Scholarships in Europe
Scholarships in Europe are offered to help foreign students who are interested to study in Europe but lack the fund to forestall it, the European Governments and some universities in Europe offer some scholarships to citizens of other countries.
Reasons to Study in Europe
Europe is a place to be with when it comes to studying and researching. It has over one thousand universities to this effect. Studying in Europe could benefit you in the following ways:
- Career advancement. Studying in Europe makes you an outstanding job-seeker with distinct skills, knowledge and experience.
- It helps you to maximize your full potential through their inspirational teachings.
- Language enhancement. You will be able to learn in English and other world-class languages like French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, Arabic, among others.
- Most educational institutions offer free tuition fees and cost of living.
The following are some of the universities and their scholarship programmes:
Postgraduate Scholarships
Holland Scholarships for Non-EU/EEA Students (Netherlands)
This scholarship is available for bachelors and Master’s students who want to study in one of Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences in Holland. This scholarship is sponsored by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and amounts to €5000.
Lund University Global Scholarships (Sweden)
This is targeted at top academic students who are pursuing their Master’s programme at the university. The scholarship may cover 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% tuition fee only.
Chalmers IPOET Scholarships (Sweden)
This scholarship is for Master’s students. It is valued at 75% of the total tuition for four semesters.
Cambridge International Scholarships (UK)
Cambridge University offers a high-ranking scholarship to PhD students at the university. It covers the tuition fee and maintenance allowance only.
Eiffel Scholarships in France for International Students
The application deadline is 9th January, 2020. The scholarship is open for postgraduate studies and was established by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The minimum required age is 30 for Master’s programme and 35 for PhD. The scholarship does not cover tuition fees, but monthly maintenance allowance which can be awarded between 12 and 36 months.
Uppsala University Global Scholarships, Sweden
This is open for Master’s degree. The scholarship application opens on 16th January and the deadline is 3rd February 2020, while courses start in August 2020. This runs annually for interested applicants. Students can only be awarded an IPK scholarship for their first priority programme at Uppsala University. The programme is delivered on campus and is not available for distance learning programmes.
Science at Leuven Scholarships for International Students
The programme is strictly for Master’s students under the Faculty of Science. The amount of the scholarship can be up to €10000 for one year.
Undergraduate Scholarships
International Relations and Development (BA) at the University of Westminster.
This scholarship is strictly for applicants running an undergraduate programme, full-time and covers a period of 3-4 years. The course studies focus on international development and associated challenges with political and economic change in the international system. They also focus on the international distribution of power at all levels – global, regional and national.
University of Maastricht High Potential Scholarships (Netherlands)
Maastricht University (UM) offers High Potential Scholarships to Master’s and bachelor’s students who wish to pursue their education, with an exception of the School of Business and Economics. The scholarship covers visa costs, tuition fees, cost of living and insurance.
Your Company Formation Business Scholarship
The scholarship is open for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The worth of the scholarship is $1000.
Emil Boutmy scholarships (France)
This scholarship is for applicants admitted for their Master’s or undergraduate programmes. The programme ranges from €5000 to €10000 for postgraduates and €3000 to €12,300 for undergraduates.
Dermadry Scholarship
This is an annual scholarship launched in 2019. It is open for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The value is $1000.
Mailcheck Scholarship
The scholarship is valued at $1500. The applicants are instructed to write an essay of 1500 to 2000 words on the given topic

- International organizations MBA at the University of Geneva
- Full Commonwealth Scholarship
- Fully funded Excellence Scholarships at Bond University, Australia.

The average cost of living in Europe varies, depending on the country. This includes tuition fees and total expenses per annum. Below are examples:
- Denmark: €14,000.
- Belgium: €10,200 to €11,400.
- Austria: €11,400.
- Finland: €9,600.
- France: €9,900.
- Germany: €10,200.
- Ireland: €12,000.
- Italy: €12,000.
- Norway: NOK139,680.
- Russia: RUB242,160.
- Spain: €10,800 to €13,200.
- Sweden: SEK96,000.
- Switzerland: CHF22,734.
- The Netherlands: €9,600 to €13,200.
- United Kingdom: £12,180.
- Poland: €2000 to €3000.
- Czech Republic: US$400 to 9000.
